The Guru Ka Dasvandh Seva Society proudly organized its first Gatka Training Class in the vibrant village of 17 GB, an event aimed at reviving the ancient Sikh martial art of self-defense. This initiative not only celebrated Sikh heritage but also instilled the values of discipline, courage, and selflessness among participants.

Preserving Sikh Martial Arts in Village 17 GB
The lush surroundings of Village 17 GB came alive with the clashing sounds of wooden sticks and swords, as enthusiastic participants of all ages took their first steps into the world of Gatka. The day began with an opening Ardas (prayer), seeking the blessings of Guru Gobind Singh Ji, the eternal guide of the Khalsa Panth.
Under the guidance of an experienced Gatka Ustaad, attendees were introduced to the historical significance of Gatka as a martial tradition rooted in self-defense and service to humanity. The training covered fundamental techniques, including basic footwork, weapon handling, and defensive maneuvers, all while emphasizing the spiritual connection inherent in the practice.

At its core, Gatka is not just a martial art but a way of life that aligns with Sikh principles of selflessness, bravery, and righteousness. Participants were encouraged to practice humility, serve others, and protect the weak, living up to the ideals of Guru Gobind Singh Ji.
Seeing our children learn Gatka fills us with pride. It connects them to our glorious past while preparing them for the challenges of the future

This training class is just the beginning of a broader vision to revitalize Sikh martial traditions. With your continued support, we aim to organize more Gatka sessions across villages, provide advanced training modules, and empower the youth to take pride in their identity as defenders of righteousness.
